Sample Homeschool Learning Programs As homeschoolers we moved from a fairly structured, school-like learning environment at home where I devised learning programs and set up activities around themes and units of work I wanted my children to complete, to a more informal learning regime where our individual and family interests dominated and where the children learned skills and knowledge as required. Recording and planning allowed me to gradually build confidence that any kind of home educational experience works: it's not so much how we educate our children but that we, the parents, care enough and want to educate them. See below for a list of links for guidelines on how to apply and what to include in your curriculum for registration or exemption from attending school in each Australian state.
The Home Education Association of Australia has provided the following examples of homeschool learning programs on it's website and invite families to modify them for their own use:
Guides for Applications for Registration/Exemption for Homeschooling in Australia Homeschooling is legal in every state of Australia but the regulations and requirements vary. The links below will give you some idea of what is required and will help to familiase you with the terminology, etc, but the best way to approach this aspect of home education is to get together with homeschoolers in your area and find out about local conditions. You'll find a list of contacts on the Homeschool Australia website, as well as on the Home Education Association of Australia website.

Welcome to the World of Home Education We began educating our children in 1985, when our eldest was five. In truth, we had helped them learn what they need to learn since they were born. I am a passionate advocate of allowing children to learn unhindered by unnecessary stress and competition, meeting developmental needs in ways that suit their individual learning styles and preferences. Ours was a homeschooling, unschooling and natural learning family! There are hundreds of articles on this site to help you build confidence as a home educating family. We hope that your home educating adventure is as satisfying as ours was! Beverley Paine
