Dragonfire

Once upon a time there was a small country town called Canton. It was a happy town , until a magic and mean goblin floated above Canton and started attacking animals and teleporting food.

A boy called Ashton went to hunt for food in the forest. When he was in the middle of the forest he found a green rock. At least he thought it was a green rock, but it was a very rare dragon egg!

The goblin was still attacking and teleporting things and food was becoming scarce . Ashton wanted to stop the goblin, but he did not know how.

All he knew was that the goblin's cave, hole or whatever he lived in was near Canton. He brought the egg he thought was a rock home and hid it under his straw bed. Exhausted Ashton flopped down on his bed. He looked around his tidy - and tiny room. And fell asleep.

Ashton woke and nearly screamed. His whole room was a mess and sitting in the middle of it, blinking innocently was a baby dragon. Ashton looked at the dragon. He touched the dragon's forehead and a silver mark appeared on his palm. He found that he could speak to it! By thinking what he wanted to say, he could say it and the dragon could say it back!

He gave the dragon some water. The dragon lapped it up happily. And began to grow. Ashton gasped. The dragon was turning golden and spurting wings.

" Hop on my back, " said the Dragon. "My name is Galdron".

They flew over the village and to a rock in the hillside.

"Stand back," warned Galdron. With effort he heaved the rock aside.

"A cave" whispered Ashton.

" Well well well visitors," said a voice from the darkness. The Goblin stepped from the shadows.

"Ashton, on me now!" Galdron shouted. Galdron swooped and dived. Ashton found he had energy blasts in his silver hand!

"No time to celebrate," said Galdron, "We're losing!"

Galdron was getting weaker with every blow. Ashton's magic was faltering too.

Galdron took a deep breath and roared. Fire came from Galdron's mouth, and burnt the Goblin. The Goblin screamed and ran back into his cave. Ashton pushed the rock back, and Galdron pushed a few extra rocks on as well.

"Now you can celebrate!"
