Motivate Your Homeschooling Kids This Winter With These Chill-Blasting Ideas!

On this cold and dreary winter days it's hard to feel enthused and all
to easy to let phsyical fitness slip. I know I'm spending most days
huddled over my computer, standing by the fire or wrapped under a
blanket watching telly at night... No wonder I'm feeling grumpy and
tired!
There's a good chance the children are feeling much the same,
especially if they aren't getting a good dose of 'outside time' each
day. It doesn't have to be long to invigorate those lungs and get that
bracing oxygen flowing to the brain. A half hour walk around the
block, a quick game of chasey or ball in the backyard or nearby
playgound, ten minute bounce on the trampoline - simple warming
exercises like this not only keep fitness at a reasonable level they
will also enhance your children's ability to concentrate and learn.
If it's too cold or wet and there is no way you can coax those
youngsters outside you'll need to think up some blood warming
activities. No, I'm no suggesting that the children play chasey
inside, though I'm sure they'd enjoy the experience! If you have a
mini-trampoline now is the time to use it. Winter is a good time to
learning the basic forms of Tai Chi and Yoga - they certainly warm you
up. I like Tai Chi because it's actually a martial art and taught as
such it really appeals to my masculine side!
Another often overlooked vigorous exercise that is both portable and
doesn't take up any room is laughing. A good long belly laugh a few
times a day is recognised as brilliant for our health. I've
rediscoverd something I knew instinctively as a child: You don't need
a reason to laugh. Get the giggles and then let the giggles take over...
For the next week let's get the ball rolling on winter warm ups we can
do with our children at home to blow those winter blues away...
