The trouble with signing up for one of the big online American conventions and conferences is that I'm usually fast asleep when the sessions are scheduled! I'm not a night owl and am usually too busy to remember to watch the recordings while they are available. We don't have many live home educating conferences in Australia - they are a lot of organising and are way too expensive to stage, with too few of us to support them outside of bigger capital cities. I'd love to attend an annual conference in my state's capital city but it ain't gonna happen any time soon - so when the opportunity to participate in an ALL Australian online conference came along, I jumped at the chance!
As a newbie, three (seemingly too short decades ago!) I craved hanging out with other home educators, learning about the resources they were using, listening avidly to their tips (what works or doesn't work for them), and sharing my own stories about the joys and pitfalls of being a home educating mumma. I used to be jealous of the big conferences in the USA I read about in Growing Without School, a magazine started by John Holt I subscribed to and read front to back several times before passing onto my friends.
And for a while, after a few years editing and producing a homeschool newsletter, I organised a couple of home ed expos in Adelaide (after which my husband said if I did that again he'd divorce me!) Since then I've spoken at a few rare Aussie conferences, and was incredibly excited when Kelly George from Fearless Homeschool said she was organising an online summit in 2017. This year's summit is her third and boy, does she do a great job!
Now everyone who needs it has the opportunity to go to a home educating conference, hear inspiring stories and get practical how-to information that can calm those homeschooling jitters, and come away feeling confident and empowered. I'm really happy to support Kelly and the 2019 Australian Homeschool Summit.
You're in the running just by entering, but here's the great part - you can get MORE entries by sharing the link with your friends (because they'll want to come too, right?) and you'll get 3 more entries for every friend who signs up. Follow or visit the Summit's amazing sponsors (listed on the website), and you'll get 5 extra entries - each!

Welcome to the
World of Home Education and
We began educating our children in 1985, when our eldest was five. In truth, we had helped them learn what they need to learn since they were born. I am a passionate advocate of allowing children to learn unhindered by unnecessary stress and competition, meeting developmental needs in ways that suit their individual learning styles and preferences. Ours was a homeschooling, unschooling and natural learning family! There are hundreds of articles on this site to help you build confidence as a home educating family. We hope that your home educating adventure is as satisfying as ours was! Beverley Paine
