Thirty years ago when I began homeschooling I knew nothing! Yup, absolutely nothing! I was flying blind, making it up as I went along. And you know what? That was okay because I'm a learner and all learners start right there, knowing nothing, ready to have a go, make it up, experiment, discover and explore. And lean on the many mentors around me, people who had been there, done that and were willing to show me how they did it, what worked for them and what didn't.
And that's the whole point of the Australian Homeschooling Summit. Us - the old hands - helping you - the newbies - feel okay and comfortable about taking that plunge and finding your feet as you begin this awesome adventure.
One of the most helpful things I found was listening to other home educators and reading dozens of books written by them (people like me, keen to share what they've learned by becoming authors, self-publishing and selling their books to people like you!)
And that's why I'm so excited about participating in the Australian Homeschooling Summit - the opportunity to join with over 30 experienced home educators sharing everything they know. We're all part of an awesome and wonderful educational journey.
I've picked three topics dear to my heart - deschooling, socialization and how to tune into how your child learns. I could write a book on each topic - there is so much in my head I want to share with you - but rather than talk at you or to you about all that stuff, I'm simply going to be available to answer YOUR questions. In case you don't have any, I'll have some prepared notes to keep you entertained! And hopefully informed!!
And because I really want you to know what I know, if you attend either of my three workshops I'll email you a free eBook on that topic, so that not only will you have access to the workshop recording to listen to again (and again), you'll be able to flip through my eBook and quite possibly read content we didn't cover during the session. Howzat? Bonza!
So don't hesitate any longer - reserve your (couch) seat for this awesome event:

Welcome to the
World of Home Education and
We began educating our children in 1985, when our eldest was five. In truth, we had helped them learn what they need to learn since they were born. I am a passionate advocate of allowing children to learn unhindered by unnecessary stress and competition, meeting developmental needs in ways that suit their individual learning styles and preferences. Ours was a homeschooling, unschooling and natural learning family! There are hundreds of articles on this site to help you build confidence as a home educating family. We hope that your home educating adventure is as satisfying as ours was! Beverley Paine
